Building analysis
The architect for the Blue Sky Animation Studios in New York was HOK. Their work included a renovation of the existing space and an addition of one floor. Together with Blue Sky, HOK’s design intent was to help Blue Sky hire and keep bright, young, creative people. This was achieved through the uses of bright colors, proper used of light and sustainable features. They also included space for storyboard rooms for development of creative idea, editing rooms, a sound studio, a cafe/community center, and a variety of open work spaces. The important sustainable feature was the use of reclaimed oak paneling, bringing a natural feeling to the space and adding a warm color to the space.
Detail analysis
The space divider looks to separate a break area and possibly offices. It also seems that the divider is made of the reclaimed oak and some kind of metal, possibly steel. The desk/counter buffet is set back from the entrance and seems to be made of the reclaimed oak, laminate, and other non-visible structural elements. Both the desk and the space divider contribute to the design concept because they help create an open, creative, natural environment.
