Emerging/innovative material applications

Embossed sugar cane wallpaper is gaining popularity in a big way because if it’s sustainable qualities. What makes this product so great is that it is compostable, biodegradable, non-toxic and chemical free. Also, sugar cane is a renewable resource and 1.2 billion tons of it is harvested every year.

Physical properties

  • Finish: The way that this material is produced is by crushing and juicing the sugar cane fibers which creates a waste product called bagasse. The bagasse gives the wallpaper a 3D quality and adds a great amount of texture to the wallpaper. With the bagasse they have molded a variety of styles you can choose from to create interest and texture to a space.
  • Material Performance: Because this wall covering is considered a paper, it is only meant to be used in interior spaces. Excess exposure to water and moisture will cause the wall paper to deteriorate over time.
