Contribute a building

before you contribute a building

Please review the following steps before you contribute a new building to the project.

  • Check to see if your building already exists in the MaterialWiki project.
  • Check the building wish list to see if your building has already been suggested.
  • Refer to the building research guidelines below if want to contribute a new building and you have knowledge about that building.
  • Consider suggesting a building if you do not feel qualified to contribute accurate building content.

  • Create a new article for your building.
  • Copy and paste the contribute building template code (below) into the new page.
  • Save the new page to import the template

building research guidelines

For each building within this project, contributors should include building information, building analysis, reference, and external links. Contributers may also generate 2D and 3D diagrams/drawings of the building or public domain photographs of the building. The contribute building template code' (above) will copy the required information into a new building for you.

Suggest a building

Suggesting a new building to the MaterialWiki project is a relatively easy process. Users that suggest a new building do not need to have any special knowledge about that building and are really just adding the building to our building wish list. There are a few steps we encourage you to follow as you are suggesting a building.

  • Check to see if your building already exists in the MaterialWiki project.
  • Check the building wish list to see if your building has already been suggested.
  • Refer to the building research guidelines (above) if want to contribute a new building and you have knowledge about that building.
  • Refer to the suggest a building guidelines (below) after you know that you really want to suggest a building.

  • building names should be entirely lowercase
  • building names should be the generally accepted name for the building.
