Help:Starting a new page
From MaterialProject.org, the free architectural material catalog
There are several ways to start a new page.
Starting a new Material page
Following these 5 steps to setup a new material.
- Create an account at MaterialProject.org, verify your e-mail address, and log into your account.
- Check to see if your material already exists at MaterialProject.org. If a page for your material exists, consider enhancing the article's content with your knowledge.
- Create a new page for your material.
- Use all lowercase letters for your material's page name unless the trade name for the material includes capitol letters. (e.g. use "concrete block" not "Concrete Block")
- Create a new page by typing your material name in the search box to the left and then click Go.
- On the search results page, click the create this page link to create your new page.
- Copy and paste the code below into your new page.
{{subst:contribute material}} - click Save Page
Using wiki links
MediaWiki makes it very easy to link wiki pages using a standard syntax (see Links). If you (or anyone else) creates a link to an article that doesn't exist yet, the link will be colored red, like this.
- Clicking a red link, will take you to the edit page for the new article.
- Simply type your text, click save and the new page will be created.
- Once the page has been created, the link will change from red to blue.
Create redirects to your new page
Don't forget to setup redirects when you create a page. If you think another person may search for the page you've created by using a different name or spelling, please create the proper redirect(s). See Help:Redirects
