- Ingeo™ is not made from oil
- Ingeo™ is made from dextrose (sugar) from field corn
- Corn is grown in a 30-mile radius of the NatureWorks facility in Blair, Nebraska
- NatureWorks LLC produces a poylactide (PLA) biopolymer and markets it at Ingeo™
- Production companies take the Ingeo™ pellets and turn them into a variety of products

- Uses 65% less fossil fuel resources to produce compared to petroleum-based plastics
- Emits less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere during production
- Ingeo™ products can be recycled, incinerated and composted
- NatureWorks LLC is committed to making a more sustainable Ingeo™ biopolymer
- Does not leach chemicals into the water during production and compost
Flammability rating
- For furnishings- fabric made from 100% untreated Ingeo™ fiber received a slow burn rating- performing similar to wool[5]
