W Hotel, FL
The W Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, FL was a monumental fete successfully completed by Clodah Design of New York, whose vision is to "enhance life and spirit through timeless, responsible design... total design". Clodah aims to bring about a totality in design through open spaces, clean contemporary lines, and serenity and simplicity. “A space cannot be truly beautiful unless it functions in harmony with who we are... it’s about pleasure: discovering what pleases us and creating an environment that will celebrate those qualities and sustain us”, says Clodagh. The Award Winning designer did that and more with her first W and first big hotel.

Building analysis
The W Hotel and Residences at Fort Lauderdale are comprised of 1 million square feet of interior space including 350 guestrooms, 175 condominiums, three lounges, a Bliss spa, a restaurant and 18,000 sf. of event space and meeting rooms. Every interior was designed by Clodah including 3400 pieces of custom furniture. Her inspiration were here surroundings - the sand, the sea, and the vibrancy of the regional plant species. Her mission with this project was to have something beautiful to view wherever there are people. Concrete floors were made to resemble sand. Jasmine plant walls in the entry tickle the eye and nose. The entryway wall extends 28 feet upward and is made of woven faux concrete. At Whiskey Blue, thousands of brass rods are suspended from the ceiling. In the corridors, the image of a swimmer's silhouette is printed in vinyl. A staircase ascends up through a glass bottom pool resulting in dancing light effects entertain the hotel’s Living Room below. All spaces were created with the "wow" factor in mind. W's brand can stand for anything and "wow" is definitely one of them.
Detail analysis
The W's welcome desk presents itself monumentally. The woven pattern of the rear wall standards guard over two floating desks that appear to be held up by a center wooden block. The detail of the desk will illustrate the integral connection of the three main pieces that comprise the entire piece and its support.
