Finish and aesthetic qualities

  • Kinon is made of a proprietary hard cast resin, with various applied decorative effects.
  • This material is layered onto a flat MDF surface, curing and resulting in a structural bond with the MDF
  • Finishes are either a smooth glossy surface, matte or metallic - there are at least 85 types of finihses.
  • Product can be applied in the following formats:
    • MDF
    • PVC
    • Acrylic
    • 1" Acrlic
    • Planed Down Board (for curved surfaces)
    • Edge Material
Kinon Uses

Surface forms / shapes

  • Kinon material is cast in several different layering processes onto a flat MDF surface, resulting in a stable composite material.
  • MDF's of 1/2" - 3/4" result in rectangular panels; Curved surfaces are offered as'Planed Down Boards' that are 1/8" - 1/4" thick.

Cost analysis

  • The Price will vary depending on the following:
    • Pattern
    • Product (MDF, PVC, Acrylic, 1" Acrylic, Planed Down Board, Edge)
    • Finish or Size type e.g. metal or large sizes
  • Price / SqFt averages from $30/ sq ft - 130/ sq ft

Environment and Life Safety

Environmental impact

Kinon is made of a very durable plastic.

Flammability rating

  • The Flame test per ASTM E84-07 was applied
  • Results of a Flame Spread and Smoke Developed Values during a 10 minute fire experience resulted in numbers of 65 and 275 respectively
  • These numbers met the parameters of a Class B Interior wall and Ceiling Finish Category
  • Results were satisfactory

Coefficient of friction

  • A sample of the Kinon product was test or static coefficient of friction in accordance with procedures in ASTM D 2047-04
  • Results under wet conditions (0.72) under dry (0.62) and were satisfactory
